One day. Then the next.
Sober Path is built around how alcohol recovery actually works — not a straight line, but a series of days, each one its own decision. The AI companion understands HALT (Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired) and recognises 12-step language like "sponsor," "step work," and "Higher Power" if that's part of your journey — without ever requiring it.
Whether your goal is total abstinence or cutting back, Sober Path follows your definition of progress. Everything you log — your streak, your check-ins, your journal, your conversations — is encrypted and stays on your device.
Capabilities.
Honest streak tracker
Days, hours, and minutes sober — reset whenever you choose. Your longest streak is preserved permanently, so one hard night never erases your progress.
AI companion fluent in recovery
Recognises HALT triggers and honours AA/12-step language if you use it — sponsor, step work, Higher Power — without ever requiring it. Supports both abstinence and moderation goals.
Urge Mode
When a craving or a HALT trigger hits, Urge Mode walks you through grounding exercises — breathing, sensory grounding, and distraction techniques — all offline, no internet needed.
Crisis & withdrawal safety
A two-layer safety system flags signs of crisis in your messages and surfaces region-appropriate hotlines. If you describe severe withdrawal symptoms — shaking, confusion, hallucinations — the companion directs you to emergency care immediately, never to "push through."
Daily check-in & private journal
A 10-second mood check-in (ON_TRACK / SLIPPED / SKIPPED) keeps your streak honest. Your journal is encrypted, searchable, and never shared — not even with the AI companion.
XP, levels & 29 badges
Twenty levels from Day One to Transcendent, a 91-day check-in heatmap, and badges for streaks, consistent check-ins, and comebacks after a slip. Progress never goes down.

Frequently asked.
Does Sober Path support cutting back, not just quitting entirely?
Yes. During onboarding you choose your goal — abstinence or moderation — and the AI companion's tone and suggestions follow that choice. Sober Path doesn't take sides on your goal; it supports the one you set.
What if I have severe withdrawal symptoms?
Sober Path is not a medical service. If you describe symptoms like shaking, sweating, confusion, hallucinations, or seizures, the AI companion will direct you to emergency medical care immediately — alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous, especially for heavy or long-term drinkers, and should never be managed by an app alone.
Will the AI companion understand AA terminology?
Yes — if you use terms like "sponsor," "step work," "meeting," or "Higher Power," the companion recognises and honours that language. If you don't use 12-step framing, it won't introduce it either.
Is my journal or chat history visible to anyone?
No. Your journal, check-ins, and chat history are stored in an encrypted local database on your device. Only the message you send to the companion leaves your device — solely to generate that one reply.
Does Sober Path work offline?
Streak tracking, check-ins, journaling, Urge Mode, and gamification all work fully offline. Only AI companion conversations and the crisis-message classifier require an internet connection.
